Other digital stories in their finalization stage.
OLM evaluation
Annet has been in Diga and is going next week to Jeldu. The Diga visit was positive. Good team work...
Her work entails reviewing original OLM and assessing if we have moved forward with it during the course of NBDC - light retrospective review on how far we've come (including staff and partner views)...
Draft output expected end of March.
Hydrological monitoring equipment transfer
Alemseged, Yenenesh working on this.
IP meeting plans
Conversations took place on IP progress in the three sites. Transition phase towards WLE (Fogera) and HT (Diga, Jeldu), building on what's already happening and ensuring we keep activities, relationships, ethos etc.
We want to get contact with key IP members etc. for those CGIAR research programs. Tracy and Mengistu going to the HT sites. ACTION: Zelalem is going to draft a process document for the next IP meeting and share it with Teklu.
Issue about lack of operational funds in Humidtropics for engagement and support to IPs.
Zelalem and Teklu discussing field visits and visits to technical committees etc. After that, IP meetings planned (draft agendas prepared by Zelalem/Beth). ILRI/IWMI meeting to take place before IP meetings to ensure we speak the same language and work along the same lines.
Next week there is an IP learning event...
Partners on sites have more information about this.
Fogera platform is following a different approach (because related to WLE). After the 3 Wat-A-Game workshops, task forces were set up with regional/woreda level actors. They're keen on having pilot activities. Now thinking about a proposal development workshop building on strategies from WAG process. Workshop planned in Bahir Dar Uni focused on unrestricted grazing - potential influence on policy at regional/national level. Good spin-off... Scientific meeting planned in May, with scientific publications and knowledge sharing/engagement.
There is no regional platform - it never happened under NBDC, though we helped establish the national platform.
Under Humidtropics, action site R4D platforms are planned and these could be related to regional level actors. We have to take stock of existing platforms...
On last Fogera visit, went to livestock bureau head - he was interested in fodder development wrt the recommendations on feed shortage etc. In some places there are serious feed shortages etc. so in the proposal it might be good to address this issue to attract regional level government reps.
Reports
Simon has tidied up all reports including basin level one. Amanda/MT had a look and commented on these (except the basin one which is now with them) and now these reports are back. N5 ready. N2-N4 have detailed comments to work on. N3 finalized.
Basin level report expected soon.
Comments were positive - in the next month they can be put on the wiki (perhaps even on CG Space).

Coordination mechanisms with WLE / HT
In the last months of 2013 we significantly improved the coordination of NBDC with monthly meetings etc. Such coordination mechanisms need to be sustained.
Alan's suggestion: maintain an entity that would establish:
A mailing list
Monthly/bimonthly meetings
Flagging lack of coherence etc. in former NBDC sites and beyond with other programs (e.g. Africa RISING)
Who needs to be part of this? Anyone with time on WLE/HT? HT: ILRI, IWMI, CIP, ICRAF, AVRDC. WLE: IWMI, ILRI, ICRAF?
Perhaps around every monthly Africa RISING meeting there could be an hour (after the AR meeting) e.g. Abay Andelay (the Nile together)... 27 March 2013 first Abay Andelay meeting 4-5pm following the AR meeting + include interested external people. ELB/AD/SL to review mailing list of these people - AD/YR to send mailing to find out who's involved in these programs in Ethiopia.
